DMHOA needs Volunteers to join the Executive Committee.
Why I volunteered:
I was frustrated with how landowners were treating residents. I wanted to help home owners like myself with real and permanent change. I realized I needed to go higher than just our own HOA, so I volunteered to join the DMHOA Executive Committee and have been sending out emails with information to help all of us ever since. – Joyce O’Neal

In the absence of in-person national convenings, MHAction has been hosting a series of fall/winter learning calls. These calls are key to us staying connected and sustaining a vibrant resident-led movement. Our first learning call centered on indigenous perspectives on land and health. The next call will feature amazing panelists who will discuss resident-friendly ownership models, how they achieved them, how they’re working, what is challenging, and what gives us hope.
What: Community Ownership That Works for Us - Learning Series Call
When: Wednesday, November 3, 8pm ET/7pm CT/6pm MT/5pm PT
Call Host: Gail Travers, whose community’s experience fighting a corporate owner and trying to buy their community in Akron, NY highlights the importance of this topic.
After the panel presentation, we’ll break into small groups to dig deeper with each other, and challenge ourselves to explore new ownership models while staying true to our commitment to building models that work for people of color, immigrants, seniors, families, and everyone who needs affordable housing.
Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.

The Behavioral Health Consortium was created so that community members on the front lines would have a seat at the table and so that we could derive and develop the solutions to addressing this epidemic in a real, grassroots effort. In continuing that effort, Lt. Governor Hall-Long and the BHC will hold town halls to update the community on the efforts of the BHC, the accomplishments we’ve made to date, and to understand where there is more work to do. The townhalls will be held on the following dates below. We hope that you all will be able to participate in them. I have attached flyers to this email, please share with your networks.
